Behavioral Threat Assessment & Management: Legal, Special Education, and Best Practice Considerations
Description

This workshop examines best practices for developing legally defensible behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM) programs while addressing the unique considerations involved when working with students with disabilities. Participants will explore how IDEA, Section 504, and ADA Title II intersect with threat assessment, strategies for improving equity and reducing bias, and best practices for multidisciplinary collaboration, information sharing, documentation, parent communication, discipline, and placement decisions. Drawing on current research and expert witness legal case experience, this workshop provides practical guidance for implementing high-quality, compliant, and effective BTAM processes.
